Description
MORNING: The driver and tour guide will pick you up at the appointment places in Da Nang or Hoi An.
9:00 AM: Tour begins by visiting the Marble Mountains (Ngu Hanh Son), where you will hear fascinating legends surrounding the origin of these peaks. You will have the chance to touch the colorful marble—shades of green, pink, brown, and white—that gave the site its name: the Marble Mountains (also known locally as Non Nuoc Mountains). This area boasts a picturesque landscape, featuring enchanting caves sculpted by nature.
From the 16th century through the Nguyen Dynasty, the Marble Mountains served as a center for Buddhism in Central Vietnam. Today, the site is home to 14 pagodas of various sizes, making it a significant spiritual destination for Buddhist devotees and a scenic spot for visitors to explore.
Continuing the journey to explore the unique landmarks of Da Nang, visitors will arrive at the Cham Museum, where they can admire a collection of artistic sculptures from the Champa culture. These works depict Hindu deities—such as Shiva, Brahma, and Vishnu—and also reflect the influence of Buddhism, which became integrated into the culture throughout the development of the ancient Champa Kingdom.
Sculptures made of sandstone, solid bronze, or terracotta demonstrate the exceptional artistic and craftsmanship skills of the artisans of that era.
LUNCH IN A LOCAL RESTAURANT
As a coastal city boasting a coastline stretching over 100 kilometers and home to ancient fishing villages, this region has long seen its inhabitants make the most of the ocean’s bounty—creating delicious, highly nutritious meals. These gifts from the sea are paired with fresh vegetables and produce grown in home gardens or on the sandy, sun-drenched fields characteristic of Central Vietnam. Everything comes together in perfect harmony, offering visitors a unique culinary experience featuring a variety of local specialties, such as *bánh xèo* (sizzling savory crêpes), *bún mắm* (vermicelli with fermented fish sauce), *thịt ba chỉ cuốn bánh tráng* (pork belly wrapped in rice paper), and *mì Quảng* (Quảng-style noodles).
AFTERNOON:
You will continue the tour with a visit to Linh Ung Pagoda on the Son Tra Peninsula. Located by Bai But beach, the pagoda is associated with a local legend: residents once discovered a Buddha statue that had drifted ashore; they brought it back to worship, and ever since, the seas have remained calm, leading to a more peaceful and prosperous life for the local people.
Linh Ung Pagoda was designed and constructed over six years, opening from 2010 to the visitor, featuring a collection of remarkable Buddhist artistic works, most notably a 67-meter-tall statue of Avalokiteshvara (Guanyin). The statue faces the sea with a gentle, compassionate gaze; one hand is held in the samadhi mudra (a gesture of deep meditation), while the other holds a vase of nectar, as if bestowing blessings upon all sentient beings.
Also present are statues of the 18 Arhats, carved from white marble. Each figure depicts the Arhats in various postures, reflecting their lives following the attainment of enlightenment through the miraculous power of meditation.
From the pagoda grounds, visitors can gaze outward to take in the breathtaking beauty of the Son Tra Peninsula, where mountains meet the azure sea.
In the late afternoon, as the sunset casts golden rays upon the statues, the shifting light creates a truly magical atmosphere.
It is in these moments that visitors can fully appreciate the harmony between nature and the pinnacle of human creativity and craftsmanship. A visit here is a highlight of any trip to the coastal city of Da Nang—a destination renowned for its spectacular landmarks and pristine, soft-sand beaches that leave a lasting impression on every traveler.
